The Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation organized a charity bike build at the Hilton Dallas/Plano Granite Park in Plano, Texas on July 28, 2026. Fifty participants competed through team challenges, assembled bicycles, and donated them to CASA of Tarrant County, an organization that trains community volunteers to advocate for children in the court system.
Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation is the charitable arm of Cornerstone League, a trade association serving credit unions across Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Community investment is central to how credit unions operate, and this event put that value into practice at the close of a professional development day.
Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation Assembles Bikes for CASA of Tarrant County at Charity Bike Build Team Event in Plano, Texas
A group of 50 is an ideal size for Build-A-Bike®. Large enough to create real competitive energy between teams, small enough for every person to contribute visibly. No one sits on the sidelines. Every participant has a role in both the challenge rounds and the final build.
The energy at the Hilton Dallas/Plano Granite Park was high from the opening challenge. Teams dove in with focus and enthusiasm. As rounds were completed, bicycle components accumulated at each station. The competitive element kept the pace lively throughout. When the assembly phase arrived, the competition gave way to a collective effort, teams combined their components and worked side by side to finish the bicycles. When the last bike was complete, the group lined them up for the handoff to CASA. The room responded with cheering.
CASA of Tarrant County trains volunteers to serve as a consistent, caring presence for children navigating difficult circumstances in the court system. For a group rooted in community service values, the partnership was a natural fit. Natalie Stalmach coordinated the charity side of the event and made sure the donation landed where it was needed most.
