Sixty-five members of the Capital Group Private Client Services team gathered for a fun day of charity team building in Los Angeles, CA on June 11th. The group spent an afternoon competing through team challenges and assembling bikes for local kids. Eight completed bicycles went to the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Los Angeles. Kim Washington, the organization’s VP of Development and Marketing, was there to accept the donation in person.

The Private Client Services team that showed up for this event works with some of the most demanding clients in wealth management. These are people who spend their days navigating complexity and producing results under pressure. The charity bike build gave them two hours to compete in a different kind of pressure test. The format was unfamiliar, and that turned out to be exactly the point.
Teams earned their bike parts by working through challenges together. The competitive element pushed every table to stay sharp and move fast. Nobody came to coast through the afternoon, and the energy in the room made that clear early on. By the time bikes started taking shape, the group had stopped thinking about anything else.
When Kim Washington came forward to speak about the kids who would receive the bikes, the room settled. She connected the eight bicycles being handed over to eight real kids growing up in Los Angeles. For a group used to working with large numbers every day, the direct impact of eight bikes landed differently. The room felt the weight of it.
