American Rental Association of Michigan Fuels a Large-scale Build-A-Bike® Event in Detroit, Michigan

The Build-A-Bike® activity got rolling quickly once teams were formed. One hundred participants split into fourteen teams of four and jumped straight into the challenges. The room filled with steady movement as teams worked through tasks that required clear communication and quick decisions. Everyone stayed involved, and the pace stayed consistent from start to finish. Teams settled into a strong rhythm as the competition unfolded. Some groups focused on speed, while others leaned into strategy. The friendly competition kept things interesting without feeling over the top. Conversations stayed focused, and teams worked efficiently to keep things moving.

There was a little extra motivation built into the event. The two highest-scoring teams earned bonus gambling chips for the casino night later that evening. Knowing that the results carried over into the night gave teams another reason to stay sharp. It added just enough incentive without distracting from the main event.

By the end of the activity, teams had completed fourteen children’s bicycles. All of the bikes were donated to Dearborn Goodfellows. The organization collects toys throughout the year to help ensure children have a positive holiday season. The event wrapped up with a clear sense of accomplishment, pairing solid teamwork with a meaningful community contribution.
