The Assurance Group (TAG) capped their annual Summer Sales Event with a charity bike build at the Grandover Resort & Spa in Greensboro, North Carolina. Roughly 80 insurance sales agents and leaders split into 10 teams, competed through challenges, and assembled 10 bicycles. The bikes went to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Triad, received in person by 10 children who came on-site that afternoon.

Eighty Insurance Professionals Build 10 Bikes for Local Kids at TAG Annual Summer Meeting in Greensboro
TAG’s annual event runs like a reunion. Agents come from all over the country. Leadership is in the room. This year, the CEO’s wife Beverly Shackelford was in the Carlisle Ballroom, along with a grandson who has been part of these gatherings since birth.
Ten teams competed through Build-A-Bike® challenges under three TAG leadership judges. Damian Johnson of The Leaders Institute facilitated. Components had to be earned before assembly could begin. The room stayed competitive through the final build.
When the bikes were finished, Ray Trapp, Director of Advancement at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Triad, walked in with 10 children. Each child received one of the bikes built that afternoon. No one had told the kids what was coming. The room experienced the result directly.
TAG’s team filmed the event and played a recap video back for the full group that evening. Agents who had spent the afternoon competing and building watched themselves hand those bikes to children, and the room responded. One leader called the facilitation phenomenal and named it the highlight of the week. Plans to return next year, for an even larger group, are already underway.
