With seventy participants gathering for their quarterly kickoff meeting for 2025, the organization transformed what would typically be a 1.5-hour meeting into an engaging team building experience. The event took place at their headquarters on Westwood Center Drive. All in all, it brought together both local and remote team members for a meaningful activity that combined team bonding with charitable giving.

The Build-A-Bike® event offered WGL Energy employees a unique opportunity to kick off 2025 with collaborative energy. Although most team members knew each other, the event provided a fresh context for interaction outside of typical work settings. The participants demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm and engagement throughout the activity, approaching the challenges with positive attitudes and team spirit.
During the event, teams worked together to assemble bicycles through a series of collaborative challenges. The atmosphere was electric as colleagues collaborated, problem-solved, and built relationships while constructing the bikes. The team’s exceptional engagement was evident in the photos captured during the event, showcasing their enthusiasm and camaraderie. This hands-on activity allowed team members to showcase skills that might not be apparent in their day-to-day roles, fostering deeper connections and mutual respect.
The bicycles assembled during the event were donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington, DC, directly benefiting children in need. This meaningful contribution added purpose to the team building exercise, allowing WGL Energy employees to make a tangible difference in their community while strengthening their internal bonds.
