Quanex gathered in St. Petersburg, Florida for a Build-A-Bike® charity team building event at The Vinoy Resort & Golf Club. The event brought together 110 sales and operations leaders from across the United States and Europe for a lively afternoon built around teamwork, competition, and giving back. Instead of spending another session sitting through presentations, the group jumped into a hands-on challenge that kept everyone moving. By the end of the event, teams had assembled brand-new bikes for children from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay.

Quanex Brings International Teams Together for a Build-A-Bike® Team Building Event in St. Petersburg, Florida
With leaders arriving from both Europe and the United States, the event turned into a great excuse for people to connect outside of meetings and conference calls. Once teams formed, the ballroom quickly got loud in the best way possible. Some groups focused on strategy right away, while others jumped straight into the challenges and figured things out as they went.
The pace stayed high throughout the activity. Teams moved between problem-solving tasks, tracked down bike parts, and tried to outpace the competition around them. There was plenty of joking, cheering, and last-second scrambling as bikes slowly started coming together across the room. The mix of sales and operations leaders also made things more interesting since many participants rarely get the chance to work side by side in this kind of setting.
Seven Surprise Guests Stole the Show at the End of the Day
The biggest moment came after the final bikes rolled into place. Seven children from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay entered the room to pick out their new bikes themselves. That instantly changed the atmosphere. The competition disappeared, phones came out, and the room shifted into celebration mode.
Seeing the kids interact with the bikes gave the event a much more personal feel. Employees got to see exactly where their effort was going, which made the entire experience feel more real and memorable. The Boys & Girls Clubs team helped everything run smoothly and created a fun donation presentation that wrapped up the event perfectly.
We give a big thank you to Quanex for supporting children in the St. Petersburg community through this Build-A-Bike® activity. We’d also like to thank the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay for the incredible work they do for local families and children.
