Temporal brought its People Team together for a Build-A-Bike® charity team building activity in Lafayette, California. The event welcomed 26 participants during a larger Bay Area offsite and gave many teammates their first chance to meet in person. Rather than gathering in a conference room, the team spent the afternoon on the scenic back deck of the company’s Head of People. The relaxed setting helped create an atmosphere that felt more like a celebration than a meeting. By the end of the event, the group had built eight bicycles for children served by the YMCA of the East Bay.

Temporal Teammates Turn an Offsite Gathering Into Something Bigger With Team Building Activity in Lafayette, California
When your team is spread across the country, opportunities to connect face-to-face don’t happen every day. That’s what made this coming together especially meaningful. While the offsite provided plenty of chances for meetings and discussions, the Build-A-Bike® gave everyone a chance to interact in a completely different way.
The backyard setting immediately put people at ease. Conversations flowed naturally, and team members who had only known each other through video calls finally had the chance to spend time together in person. Once the competition began, the group jumped right in. Ideas bounced from one team member to another, friendly rivalries emerged, and the energy kept building throughout the afternoon.
What stood out most was how much the group accomplished. Teams often donate a handful of bicycles during events this size. Temporal’s team kept pushing and ended up assembling eight bikes, far exceeding expectations. Their excitement only grew when Nicole Stovall from the YMCA of the East Bay arrived to accept the donation.
As Nicole shared stories about the YMCA’s work in the community, the impact became more personal. The conversation inspired an unexpected surprise. Wanting to support the organization even further, Temporal’s leadership team donated an additional Build-A-Bike® program for Nicole and her fellow YMCA managers. It was the perfect ending to an event that brought people together, strengthened relationships, and created an even larger ripple effect in the community.
We would like to thank Temporal for their generosity, enthusiasm, and commitment to giving back. We’d also like to thank Nicole Stovall and the YMCA of the East Bay for the incredible work they do for local children and families every day.
