Gilbane hosted a bike charity team building event in Atlanta, GA during an executive meeting at the College Football Hall of Fame. A total of 113 participants came together, representing three separate divisions of the company. What made this one stand out? It was the first time these groups had ever worked together in person in the company’s 156-year history. The goal was simple, get people connecting across teams, and the Build-A-Bike® challenge gave them a hands-on way to do it while supporting a local elementary school.

Gilbane Leaders Collaborate During Build-A-Bike® Bike Team Building Event in Atlanta, Georgia
With 113 leaders in the room, and most of them meeting face-to-face for the first time, the Build-A-Bike® challenge got things moving quickly. Teams mixed across divisions and jumped into solving challenges to earn their bike parts. Early on, you could see groups figuring out how to work together, but it didn’t take long before conversations picked up and strategies started forming.
The setting inside the College Football Hall of Fame added to the energy. Teams huddled up, compared progress, and occasionally borrowed a good idea from a neighboring table. There was a steady mix of problem-solving, quick decision-making, and a bit of friendly competition as everyone worked toward getting their bikes completed.
As the builds wrapped up, the focus shifted to the final lineup of bikes. The donation went to South Douglas Elementary School, a client of Gilbane, which gave the whole effort an extra layer of connection. Seeing the finished bikes lined up made it easy to appreciate what the group had accomplished together, especially considering it was their first time collaborating as one combined team.
We extend a big thank you to Gilbane for supporting students through this Build-A-Bike® event. We also appreciate the partnership with South Douglas Elementary School.
